Kıymalı Börek (Mince beef pastry) always fills me with a little warm feeling of nostalgia, there’s something about these Böreks that put a smile on my face, it’s probably the satisfaction of eating 10 in a row! A lot time and effort goes into making these but they are well worth it. I made approximately 50 of these and now I reckon there’s around 5 left. Even my brother was at the door waiting for his Börek goody bag (socially distanced of course). I’ve always cooked my onions first, I personally like the caramelised onions infusing into the mince as it adds that little bit of sweetness.
Ingredients:
450g of mince beef or lamb
1 finely diced onion
Handful of chopped parsley
1/2 tsp pul biber
1 1/2 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp of black pepper
A tiny pinch of cinnamon
Ingredients for the dough:
1 kg of flour
2 tbs of olive oil
1 tsp of salt
Warm water
This dough recipe will make enough for mince beef, Ricotta and Halloumi Boreks. Use less flour if only use one of the above fillings.
