Juicy chicken, golden edges and a spoonful of cool, creamy tzatziki. Add a crunchy salad and your favourite sides, and you've got a dinner worth putting the phone down for.
If your usual chicken breast ends up dry or bland, this recipe gives you a different way to cook it. Coat it in a yoghurt marinade with Baharat Chicken Shish Seasoning, let it sit, then cook it in the air fryer.
No measuring out paprika, oregano and a long list of separate spices. One ready-blended seasoning takes care of that part.
Find Chicken Shish Seasoning in our Favourite Collection, alongside Doner, Shawarma and Kofte. For the dip, add Baharat Tzatziki Seasoning
Air fryer chicken shish: ingredients
Serves 4 with sides.
- 800g chicken breast, cut into roughly 3cm pieces
- 2 tablespoons Baharat Chicken Shish Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons Greek yoghurt
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 3 garlic cloves, grated
The Chicken Shish blend replaces the separate salt, black pepper, paprika, oregano, dill or thyme in the original marinade.
How to make the chicken
- Coat the chicken. Put the chicken, Chicken Shish Seasoning, Greek yoghurt, olive oil, lemon juice and grated garlic into a bowl. Mix until every piece is coated.
- Marinate. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. You can leave it overnight for a deeper flavour. Meanwhile, make the tzatziki below.
- Arrange in the air fryer. Preheat to 200°C if your appliance requires it. Arrange the chicken in a single layer with space around the pieces. Cook in batches if needed. For the look shown in the video, use air-fryer-safe skewers that fit your basket; loose pieces work too.
- Cook. Air fry at 200°C for around 17–18 minutes, turning halfway. This is a guide: timing varies with your appliance and piece size. Check the thickest piece with a clean food thermometer; it should reach 75°C for at least 30 seconds. Cook longer if needed.
- Serve. Let the chicken rest briefly, then serve with homemade tzatziki, chopped salad and your favourite sides.
Homemade tzatziki: ingredients
- 250g Greek yoghurt
- ½ cucumber, grated
- 2 tablespoons Baharat Tzatziki Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Juice of ½ lemon
Our Tzatziki Seasoning combines mint, dill, garlic, parsley and black pepper, so you can skip measuring out separate herbs and pepper for the dip.
How to make the tzatziki
- Squeeze the cucumber. Grate it, then squeeze out as much liquid as possible using clean hands or a clean cloth.
- Mix. Stir the cucumber into the Greek yoghurt with the Tzatziki Seasoning, olive oil and lemon juice.
- Chill. Refrigerate for 15–30 minutes before serving. This gives the dried herbs time to soften and the flavours time to come together.

Build the plate shown in the video
Serve the chicken with cucumber, tomato and red onion salad, a generous spoonful of tzatziki and chips or wedges. Prefer a different dinner? Use rice, or tuck everything into warm flatbread.
The chicken and dip stay the same. Change the sides to suit the people around your table.
Three tips for a better first batch
- Cut evenly. Similar-sized chicken pieces cook more consistently.
- Leave room in the basket. Piling in all 800g at once can stop it browning well. Cook in batches when needed.
- Squeeze the cucumber properly. Excess water makes the tzatziki runny. Thick Greek yoghurt also helps.
Questions before you start
Do I need skewers?
No. Loose chicken pieces work well. Skewers are simply another way to serve it, provided they fit your air fryer.
Can I use chicken thighs?
Yes. Boneless thigh pieces work with the same marinade. Cooking time may differ, so check the thickest piece for doneness.
Do I need to marinate overnight?
No. Start with 30 minutes in the fridge. Overnight is an option when you want to prepare ahead.
Why buy a bundle?
The Favourite Collection gives you Chicken Shish, Doner, Shawarma and Kofte for £34.99. That's £4.97 less than buying those four jars separately at their current individual prices. Use Chicken Shish for this recipe, then try a different kebab dinner next time.
