Kofte Kebab is associated with several regions, from Turkey to India, what they have in common is they use a minced meat combined with onions and spices. They can be made with a wide range of meats and vegetables and even sometimes fish, which is more typical in Indian versions.

The Kofte Kebab can be shaped either as a ball, patties or sausage shape. This mince is where it gets its name as Kofte, translated this means to pound or to grind and Kebab means pieces of meat, fish, or vegetables roasted or grilled on a skewer or spit.

Our Kofte Kebab Seasoning is based on Turkish flavorings which they would traditionally serve in kebab houses, accompanied by Tzatziki or plain yoghurt.

Ingredients:

  • Himalaya salt
  • Garlic
  • Coriander
  • Cumin
  • Sweet Paprika

Method:

  • Add 3 tbsp of our blend to 500 grams of mince meat
  • Vegan or vegetarian replacement, use mashed eggplant, mushroom, or cauliflower
  • 3 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • Grate 1 small onion and add to the mixture
  • Mix till combined
  • let sit for 1 hour or more 
  • Divide into eight balls, then roll each ball on a board with a cupped hand to turn them into ovals. 
  • Thread onto four metal or wooden skewers and brush with oil.
  • Cook on a griddle: heat the pan until you can feel a good heat rising and cook for 3-4 mins each side.
  • Don’t turn until they are well sealed, or the meat will stick to the grill or pan.
  • Serve the koftas with flat breads and Tzatziki or plain yoghurt

I usually make my own kofte but I have to say this spice mix is amazing. I fat free Greek yog to make it all the lower calorie and 5% fat beef mince.

I had used 3%fat minced beef was a bitty dry first time as the liquid had seeped out didn't use any yoghurt or added any milk second time just the seasoning and it turned out lovely going to have the kofte one tonight yum yum have had it marinating overnight

My new favourite thing

So far I have tried both the kebab and kofte recipes but whilst tasted amazing, it fell apart. Not your fault but just me needing to work on it better
However I have used your spices in a shepherd's pie, in my spag bowl and my new favourite thing is mixed in with the breadcrumbs on a scotch egg... oh boy!
